Complete Post Medieval lead alloy Russian bale (or bag) seal of unknown origin, 1750 - 1800. The unifaced seal has been cast with a raised legend on one side and an undecorated reverse. The legend is in the Cyrillic alphabet and does not contain the St Petersburg initials SPB or any other readily decipherable information. The legend comprises of three lines, with a raised sexfoil star at either end of the first line and in between the two initials on the third line. The legend is contained within a raised circular border. The seal has a dark patina and is relatively fine. Dimensions: length: 24.34mm; width: 24.89mm; thickness: 3.79mm; weight: 11.68g.
