An incomplete copper-alloy pin of middle Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) date.
The head of the pin is polyhedral, taking the form of a cuboid with truncated corners. The four angled outer sides each have a longitudinal central ridge separating two sloping faces. On each of the two largest faces is a regular arrangement of five punched ring-and-dot marks. Apart from the lozenge-shaped upper surface, each of the other faces is decorated with a single ring-and-dot mark. The central depressions within each mark appear to contain a white material which may be a corroded glass paste. A moulded collar is located at the top of the shaft, the latter of which is of circular cross-section and probably incomplete. The object measures 18.1mm long, 10.5mm wide and 5.4mm thick. The weight is 3.81g.
