A cast copper-alloy thimble of medieval date. The thimble is short with a rounded top through which a hole has been pierced. The outer surface of the thimble is decorated with a number of circular indentations. The indentations on the sides have been arranged in rows within hexagonal compartments denoted by the folds of the object. The thimble appears to have been cast as one piece. There are two incised rings around the base of the object. The metal is a mid brownish-green colour and is slightly worn. The thimble has been crushed out of shape and has a base of 11.6mm length and weighs 3.7g. A similar example can be seen in Egan, p.132, fig.126, no.630.
