A bodysherd/fragment of a wheelthrown ceramic vessel. The sherd is 6.69mm thick and weighs 1.1g. It is 10.39mm long and 14.26mm wide. The sherd consists of a bodysherd most likely from a cooking pot type vessel, in a orange oxidised fabric similar to that published as COTS (Cotswold Oolitic) in McSloy 2007 pp30. A significant proportion of the oolitic limestone inclusions have been leached out. It most likely dates from 11th to 13th centuries. Sherd specific details: Fabric type: Cotswold oolitic coarseware Sherd type: bodysherd Wall thickness: 6.69mm Firing condition: unoxidised exterior, unoxidised core, oxidised interior Hardness: hard Condition of sherds: slightly abraded Sherd/fragment not photographed. Sherd found in the same findspot as WMID-5C0496.
