A basesherd/fragment of a wheelthrown iron glazed ceramic vessel. The sherd is 8.44mm thick and weighs 26.6g. It is 49.26mm long and 36.73mm wide. The sherd consists of a base sherd, most likely from a bowl or tankard, in a dark brown, iron rich fabric with white calcium inclusions. Both the interior and exterior surfaces are a shiny dark reddy brown colour and have been glazed with an iron rich glaze. The fabric is similar to that of Midlands Purple, and dates from the 15th to 17th Centuries. Sherd specific details: Fabric type: dark red/brown colour with frequent white calcium inclusions.
