An incomplete cast copper-alloy object, probably the central part from a purse bar of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It is heart shaped with faceted front and back faces, deeply incised grooves at top and bottom to emphasise the heart shape, and a central circular perforation for the now missing swivel. It is uncertain whether the object would originally have had projecting, integrally cast arms to either side as the surfaces have worn smooth, although this is perhaps hinted at on one side where there is a slightly raised circular area. It measures 19.84mm in length, 23.60mm in width, 13.86mm in thickness, and weighs 26.20g. Similar purse bars are noted on the PAS database (see for example HAMP-6A9F51, LEIC-4243F2, SF-B4F8A4 or LVPL1708). These appear to be associated with the LMMC type B2 purse bars and are dated to the late-15th to 16th centuries AD.
