A re-used piece of decorated sheet copper alloy. Possibly intended as a lace chape. An irregulary shaped piece of sheet metal which has been rolled into a narrow, tapering tube. one end is flared open and from this is is rolled and tapering to a much smaller open end. The epertures are on opposite sides. The metal has been decorated on one face (facing outwards on the object) with alternating incised bands of chevrons and angled lines with a straight line between each band. This piece of metal re-fits with the front plate of a composite strap end (DOR-982FC0). Date: Probably medieval to early post medieval - 14th to 16th century Dimensions: 48.40 mm x 16.66 mm x 7.35 mm Weight: 3.52 g
