SIDE SCRAPER

Unique ID: SOM-D60F63

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Probable flint side scraper. The object has a large, wide butt covered with chalky cortex. Both faces of convex. The dorsal face is quite rough, uneven and covered with small flaking scars, suggesting that it may be a rejuvenation flake from a core. The ventral face, however, is covered with fine, small removals and invasive, sub-parallel, low angle retouch along the left edge, suggesting that the flake has then been made into a scraper. It is probably of Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. Length: 35.96mm, Width: 31.12mm, Thickness: 19.99mm, Weight: 22.3g
