Flint implement, or perhaps a by-product of implement production. The object is long and thin and has been created on a secondary flake; smooth light orange-brown cortex remains on the left side of the dorsal face. There appears to be deliberately worked serrations to the upper right edge of the dorsal face, suggesting that the object may have been used as a knife or saw. However, halfway down this edge is a notch, rather like those created during microlith production. This is unlikely to have been the cause, however, as the object is covered with a milky patina that is missing on the notch, the creation of which has exposed the blue-grey flint below. Probably this is the result of later damage caused when in the soil, rather than evidence of later reuse. I is probably of Meolithic to early Neolithic date. Length: 45.56mm, Width: 13.86mm, Thickness: 4.66mm, Weight: 2.2g
