Incomplete tinned cast copper alloy trapezoidal shoe or knee buckle with a frame drilled for a separate spindle. The frame has concave notched ends, each with two circular openwork apertures, and straight sides. The spindle survives and still holds its anchor chape, but the pin is missing and almost half of the frame. Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on page 98, No.613, which is dated from c.1660-1720.
