Cast copper alloy trumpet brooch dating to c.75- 175 AD. It is mostly complete but the pin is missing. The head is sub-circular and has a loop on the reverse which would have held the spring. At the top of the loop is the remains of a lug/hook which would have held the spring in place. The bow has a circular cross section with an interesting acanthus moulding at the knee. It is mostly flat at the reverse. It consists of a central band with small squares on each side of the band representing the leaves/petals. There is a raised line above and below the mulding. The lower bow narrows slightly towards the foot which consists of of a semi-spherical knob with a small collar. The catchplate is sub-triangular and has broken just after it was folded over.
