Cast copper alloy buckle, 13th to 14th century in date. An ornate buckle with an oval frame and a narrow, off-set strap bar. The pin is missing, however a pin rest is visible on the strap bar. The outer edge has four lobes divided by three transverse grooves, the outer two lobes project out prominently. There are also two lobed knops either side of the strap bar. Weight 4.9g, width 21.44mm, length 27.14mm, thickness 4.18mm. The patina is dark greyish green. Parallels can be seen in Whitehead 2003, Buckles,(nos. 78, 97 and 98).
