Incomplete Medieval (14th century) cast copper alloy annular brooch. Half of the frame survives, having broken where the frame narrows for the pin attachment. The brooch is inscribed with “I h E S V S n A Z”, and if complete would probably have read 'Ihesus Nazarenus' - Jesus of Nazareth - with possibly room for 'Rex' (king) at the end. Some spaces between the letters appear to be decorated with a hatched design, or possibly vertical lines. The brooch has a dark green-black patina.
