Early Medeival cast copper alloy escutcheon or mount. It is circular in plan, with the upper surface decorated with a cast design of a central boss surrounded by seven running spirals within a border of two concentric rings. There are two rivet holes located just inside these rings, ans a possible third rivet hole. The reverse is plain and undecroated and the edge is damaged. It is 36.88mm in diameter, 3.18mm thick and weighs 16.85 grams. It has a dark brown patina with traces of gilt in the recessed areas.
