9 earthenware vessel shards of Medieval date (probably 12th to 14th century). All are very small and much abraded. All share the same fabric and colour. They are fairly fine in texture, but with occasional large inclusions. They have a grey inner core and one outer surface is also grey, whilst the other is a light orangy-buff colour. They are tempered with occasional fine mica, medium amounts of quartz (<1mm), rare flint (<2mm), occasional pieces of red iron ore (<1mm), chalky material (<1mm) and grog (<2mm). The percentages of inclusions do vary from shard to shard, but as the fabrics are so similar this may even represent the natural level of variation within single vessels. 1. Notes:

Found as part of a large collection of earthenware vessel shards from a garden. The majority of which was Medieval, representing a variety of wares. There were also three shards of late Early-Medieval to early Medieval date, and several shards of late Medieval to early Post-Medieval date, including several that may have come from a single vessel. Found together with the assemblage was part of an armband or bracelet, which is probably of Iron Age date, a worked flint core and scraper/knife and a whetstone, which is likely to be of Medieval date given the large amount of material from this period.
