HARNESS MOUNT

Unique ID: WMID410

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

The item is in the form of a figure of eight. Where the junction to the figure of eight occurs there is a single knop on the outer faces. There isalso a knop sitting on an 'S' shape in the centre of each void of the figure of eight. All four knops are bulbous and were not cast as part of the harness. They were cast separately and then mount through a hole in the figure of eight form. There are small knops decorating the outer edge of the item as well. This 'S' shape appears to be a horn. The item is broken into three pieces, the breaks appear to be due to plough damage. However, there is a gap in the figure of eight which has a patina on both edges suggesting this was purposefully or accidentally broken in antiquity. On the reverse there are two rectangular loops.
