A locally handmade, large rimsherd from a probable storage jar or cooking pot, dating to the high medieval period (1200-1450). Possibly a local Oxford or Newbury ware. The fabric is fine grained, oxidised to a pale pinky orange / buff colour both internally and externally. Core of the pot remains grey. Some small flint and limestone temper is visible. The rim is straight off the neck of the vessel (integral) and has a slight T-shaped profile. This vessel fragment dates from the 12th to 15th centuries. The sherd measures 53.4mm long, 110mm wide and is 6.5mm thick, weighing 68.8gms. When complete, the vessel would have had a rim diameter of 22cm.

Notes:

An identical vessel fragment (in fabric, form and diameter) was submitted for recording from Lower Radley, South Oxfordshire.
