A Post-Medieval cast copper alloy openwork hooked tag; Read class E, type 5 (2001 110, ref. 436). The tag is a Hungerford knot with pellets on each cord terminal, which are joined by a bar to form a trapezoidal attachment loop. Projecting from the largest loop of the knot is a long narrow hook. The tag has been miscast and left unfinished, as one of the knot loops is still filled with copper alloy, where as the others are openwork (and the ones pictured in Read are all also openwork). Read dates this form of hooked tag to 1500-1700 AD (ibid., 87). It measures 34.3mm x 19.8mm x 2.1mm and weighs 2.74g.
