Two waste flakes found in the same area. Flake 1 (on left in photo): Snapped distal end of a longer blade or flake with percussion waves, multiple arises on the dorsal face and a hinge fracture at the distal end; no remaining cortex. Mid brown with paler brown areas. 20.7mm by 20.1mm by 3.0mm; 2.03 grams. Flake 2 (on right in photo): Proximal end of a probably deliberately broken blade or possibly core fragment. It has a bulb of percussion on the proximal end and multiple arises on the dorsal face. The proximal end appears to have a slightly irregular platform with several mis-hits around the edge. There appear to be deliberate strikes on the centre of the ventral face by the break suggesting it was broken off deliberately. The thickness may suggest it was a piece broken off a core or a fabricator. It is 28.6mm long, 23.8mm wide and 9.6mm, 8.20 grams. It is dark grey-brown in colour. Both flakes are part of a larger ollection of 5 pieces (the rest are retouched). In general the pieces are well made. All appear to be snapped from larger blades and this, as well as the evidence for multiple, neat, blade removals from a core suggests a Mesolithic date for the assembledge.
