A rim shard from a Roman New Forest colour-coated ware vessel, dating to AD c.260-370. The rim is very slightly everted at the top. Fine, hard, sandy, buff coloured fabric with a highly abraded dark coloured slip coating. The fabric is tempered with plentiful fine sand and sparse medium to large fragments of iron ore. Length: 38.11mm, Width: 24.28mm, Thickness: 6.51mm Weight: 7.70g
