A post-medieval lead token, made in strip form then cut down to size and shape after the metal had cooled. This token measures 21.43mm diameter and 3.72mm thick. It weighs 8.4gms.

Notes:

The use of medieval / post-medieval lead tokens is subject of much debate; suggested usages included form of payment, like copper alloy 17th-19th century tokens to counters and game pieces. The initial suggestion is probably closer to the truth - this token, along with the related finds were found in proximity to the apparent site of an old priory or convent - these tokens may have been related to trade and payment for people who worked for or in association with the institution.
