Cast zinc alloy replica or copy of a medallion or perhaps a fragment of a medallion, with the busts of William and Mary (1688-1694) facing each other on the obverse and a coat of arms, similar to that used on their guineas and half guineas, on the reverse. The busts are each within a beaded oval which are linked together by an attachment which may mimic a clasp or hinge so that the impression is meant to look like an open locket. The replica has been made up to two halves which have been glued together, and this tacky material still survives around the edge of the object. The coat of arms looks too small to have originally been linked to the busts, and therefore might have been copied from something else. The recorder cannot see the purpose of this attempt at a copy and cannot find any comparanda to date it, but assumes from the material that it is made from and the level of corrosion, that the object must be relatively modern. Perhaps it was an attempt to copy a family heirloom for relatives in more recent times.

Notes:

Note the weight of the object (6.19g) as it is very light.
