Medieval cast copper alloy single loop D-shaped buckle frame. The frame is oval in cross section with a widened and thickened outer edge and a narrowed and offset strap bar with lobed knops to either end. The frame measures 22.3mm by 14.6mm and is a maximum of 3.3mm thick; the entire thing weighs 1.97 grams. Egan and Pritchard (1991) illustrate a very similar example (page 68 and plate 42 ref: 271) and they suggest this is a long lived form dating from the mid 12th century to the turn of the 15th.
