A Post Medieval cast copper alloy dress hook. The dress hook is made of a single piece of cast copper alloy. The reverse plate of dress hook is missing. The body of the dress hook is an elongated trapezoid in plan. In section the body is semi-circular with slide flanges. The outer face of the dress hook body has a moulded criss-cross design. There are traces of a white metal alloy remaining at the edges. The reverse of the body is concave with an open upper edge. The lower edge has an integral tapering hook which curves forming a ‘U’ shape in profile. The sides of the body has solder traces, and traces of the plate which is now missing. The surface of the dress hook has a developed mid green patina. The dress hook measures 30.63mm long, 14.87mm wide and 11.66mm thick. It weighs 5.8g. The dress hook is the ‘lantern’ type and date to the 16th century (Gaimster, D. 2002 ‘Tudor Silver-Gilt Dress Hooks: A New Class of Treasure Find in England’ Antiquaries Journal Vol. 82 p. 157-196.)
