BROOCH

Unique ID: WMID3554

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

The wings are semi-cylindrical with capped terminals. The capped terminals have a hole in each which supports the axis bar. Around the axis bar the spring is coiled, with a horizontal bar above the spring. From the centre of the spring the pin protrudes, which is possibly complete. The wings are decorated with vertical ribbing at varying distances. The bow head is hump-like, with a small hook at the apex, which holds in place the horizontal bar of the spring. The bow is undecorated and gradually tapers to a broken foot. The catchplate has openwork as decoration, however, the catchplate is incomplete.
