A slightly corroded and damaged cast copper-alloy eye-piece from a post-medieval dress fastener (17th century AD). The main plate is flat and sub-oval in form. At one end it is truncated with a transverse ridge above which is located the rectangular loop. At the sides and the terminal is a rounded attachment loop with small central knop. These have all been bent slightly upwards or downwards. The artefact has corroded to a variable grey/green colour, the grey on the upper surface perhaps relating to a white-metal coating. This artefact is similar to a fastener illustrated in Read (2008, 170; ref. 635) which he classifies as early post-medieval Class A Type 2.
