Fragment of a copper alloy Roman dragonesque brooch. It is incomplete, one head has broken off, leaving the body and one head. It has enamelled recessed panels on the front and is flat on the back. The design on the body consists of a central circle which has a cross inside with a lozenge shape at the centre of the cross. The area on each side of the circle is split into three triangles. The terminal triangles are filled with what appears to be white enamel. The edges of the circle outside the cross have yellow enamel, only one is still filled. All the other fields are now empty but would have been filled. The body narrows to the neck which has a small head with a pointed snout and a protrusion at the back for the ear. The eye is represented by a circular hollow which was probably filled with enamel although this is now missing.
