A very unusual continental brooch, incomplete, possibly a Knickfibel (angle-brooch) type. Has an oval-sectioned bow and leg, a straight cut upper end with a projecting integral rivet, the head is missing, has a sharply angled bend above a transverse slightly convex-sided rib, tapering to a point at foot. There is an openwork triangular catch-plate on the reverse with twin transverse lines on the outer face at the base. Measures 5mm x >61mm. Cf. Hattatt (1987) no.754. First half of the 1st century AD.
