Cast lead object possibly used as a palm guard. The guard is 'D' shaped and the shorter side is ribbed slightly to allow the object to fit into the palm of a hand. One face is rounded for a similar purpose and the other is flattened presumably to aid use. The object may have been used to protect the palm from the force of using awls and punches in an industry such as leatherworking. There are three circular marks on the rounded surface presumably the result of casting or to aid use. The metal is mid greyish-brown and fairly corroded.
