Description: A fragment of a strip of gold now bent. Both terminals are incomplete due to old breaks, and the strip is rectangular in shape the outer face is smooth and the inner face is rougher and less finished.

This fragment could have originally been a decorative element of a larger item or possibly part of some sort of composite item of jewellery. Although it has no decorative or other features by which to date it the fact that the object has been found on the same field as predominantly Anglo-Saxon circa 7th century objects implies that it is perhaps most likely to be of this date.

On the balance of probabilities this find is likely over 300 years old and contains at least 10% precious metal, as such it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
