Medieval cast copper alloy seal matrix. Pointed oval (vesica) seal matrix with central device of a winged dragon passant left (right in impression) and inscription around *FRANGE LEGE TEGE (Latin, “break, read, keep secret”) within inner and outer line borders. On the reverse is a longitudinal ridge with a collared loop at one end (corresponding with the start of the inscription on the obverse); the ridge tapers in both planes towards the other end. Grey-green patina. Length 30.14mm, width 18.3mm, thickness with loop 8.6mm, thickness without loop (across centre) 4.0mm, weight 8.10g.
