A relatively large body sherd from the side wall of a vessel of probable medieval (1150-1300) date. The external face of the sherd is sooted and so most likely to be from a cooking vessel. The base of the pot and rim are missing. In profile the sherd flares slightly at one edge (probably the rim) and curves slightly across the width suggesting a relatively large diameter. The fabric of the sherd is a relatively hard earthenware with a number of small angular and sub-angular grit, quartz, and coal inclusions. There is also a large amount of mica in the fabric. The fabric colour of the sherd is a mid grey colour. A suggested diameter, height or capacity of the vessel cannot be estimated. The sherd measures 90.0mm length, 56.8mm width, 5.9mm thick (body) and weighs 31.99 grams.
