Silver; Roman Republican denarius of Lepidus; mint: Italy; 42 BC; Crawford, 1974, p.511 (no. 495/2a).

As noted in PAS database record SF-7DD9F2, Lepidus was the third triumvir with Mark Antony and Octavian in the second triumvirate, founded in 43BC. He was the least prominent of the three, being deposed and placed under house arrest by Octavian in 36BC. Crawford (ibid.) comments that the issue should be regarded as struck from the proceeds of the proscriptions in preparation for the campaign of 42 BC.
