Flat axe from the later Early Bronze Age, 2100 - 1800 BC. The axe is mostly complete although the cutting edge of the blade is uneven suggesting it has broken. The butt is also broken, althoughas it is quite narrow by the point where it has broken it is likely that only a short part is missing. The axe has a rectangular cross section at the butt which narrows down the cutting edge where it is almost flat. The surface is mostly smooth with a few incised marks and lines. It is not clear if these are from accidental damage or a deliberate pattern as they are very faint. If it was a pattern it would appear to be parallel lines running from left to right diagonally across the axe. The patina is a green-brown mix of varying patches. Dating of Migdale and Dev Flat Axes sits in Needham's period 2 (2300-2050 CAL BC) and Period 3 (2050-1700 CAL BC), Metalwork Assemblage III and IV.
