HINGE

Unique ID: WMID2801

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

This hinge is a small and insubstantial, i.e. the hinge is not designed to support anything, for example a caskets or even a book. One plate is shaped in plan as a pointed trefoil. The central leaf has a circular hole, presumably the mounting point. The trefoil is decorated by a border of circular indentations. The hinge itself is circular in section and is formed by the sheet metal curled around an axis bar. The second plate is sub-rectangular shape in plan and is longer then the hinge. The plate is cracked and fragile. There are traces of gilding on the upper surfaces on the two plates.
