SCRAPER (TOOL)

Unique ID: SOM-F35C67

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Flint end and side scraper of probable Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date. The scraper is sub-rectangular in form, utilising a tertiary flake. The butt is wide and slightly concave. The bulb is diffuse and the ripple lines discreet. All suggesting that a large, soft hammer was used. There are two large flaking scars on the dorsal face, with a few smaller ones at both the proximal and distal ends. There is a small amount of abrupt to semi-abrupt, long, scaled retouch on the right edge and a little abrupt to semi-abrupt, short, scaled retouch in places at the distal end. The flint is light brown in colour. Length: 28.64mm, Width: 21.85mm, Thickness: 7.37mm Weight: 6.05g
