A fragment of a cast copper alloy figurine of Christ (formerly attached to a cross). Medieval, twelfth to thirteenth century (c. AD 1100 – c. AD 1300). Length: 74.6mm; width: 32.3mm; thickness: 20.4mm; weight: 87.39g. The fragment comprises the lower part of the torso, the legs and feet. The upper part of the figurine is missing due to an old break. The cross is also missing. At the rear the torso is hollow but the legs are solid. The torso has folded drapery which extends to just below the knee and falls slightly lower at each side. The right leg is crossed over the left leg so that the left foot (as viewed from the front) is obscured. Each foot is pierced with a circular hole of 3.7mm in diameter. The object has a well developed dark green patina overall. However at the front the surface is shiny and smooth, whereas at the rear it is coarse, uneven and poorly finished.
