Post Medieval gilded copper alloy fob seal, 18th century with possible Roman orange/red stone (?cornelian) or glass intaglio. Hollow cast oval frame with three concentric raised ridges; conical handle, fluted; loop at apex broken off. The oval intaglio is of a standing female figure, naked except for a cloak down her back, with hands holding a ?bowl raised to mouth, and a one-handled pedestal-based jug with a large feather in it at her feet. The intaglio has numerous tiny pits & scratches suggesting it is glass rather than stone. Length 19.98mm, length of seal face (width) 18.79mm, width of seal face (thickness) 13.71mm, weight 3.29g.. The intaglio is probably 18th century rather than Roman.
