A fragment from a Medieval finger ring, which would have formed the bezel. The motif is a heart sprouting flowers below a foliated crown. On the reverse can be seen the remains of the flat band of the hoop. (For comparison see TAR 2003, fig. 198)

The fragment is silver-gilt and dates from the late fifteenth or early sixteenth century.


Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
