A silver annular brooch. Circular sectioned frame, very distorted and now in two pieces with four equally spaced and separately made knops each of which encloses the frame and is decorated on two thirds of the surface with closely spaced and overlapping stamped annulets. A similar knop surrounds the shank of the pin next to the loop. See Dress Accessories (2002) fig. 163 no. 1330 and 1333. The brooch dates to the 13th - 14th century.

Dimensions: Diameter of frame 1.5mm. Length of pin and approximate original external diameter 28mm. Weighing 3.61g.

The age and precious metal content of this item therefore qualify it as treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
