MOUNT

Unique ID: ESS-E29903

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Post Medieval pressed sheet copper alloy mount or fitting. It is sub-rectangular in plan with an expanded terminal which is folded over. This terminal is in the form of two semi-circular knops, which then have a bent narrow arm between them, which then expands outwards into two circular knops positioning them below the two semi-circular knops on the upper surface of the mount. The opposing terminal has a small projecting knop with a worn break across it, which was probably from a hooked terminal. The upper surface has floral decoration which is very worn. The mount is a dark reddish-brown in colour. It is 25.27mm long, 11.68mm wide, 1.38mm thick, increasing to 4.65mm across the bent terminal. It weighs 2.17 grams.
