A hollow copper alloy lace chape, strap fitting or possible ferrule from the end of a wooden brush or pen, dating to the 14th to 16th Century. The chape has been formed from a rolled, cylinder of sheet copper alloy, there is no joint in the cylinder. The chape has a wide open end, then tapers to the terminal which is rounded. There are two punched holes in the sides of the chape.
