Post medieval buckle; cast copper alloy asymmetrical double looped buckle of late 16th or 17th century date. The buckle frame has a rectangular loop at the back and an arched loop at the front, with a sturdy pin bar of circular cross-section across the centre. The buckle frame is of flattened cross section and has moulded decoration in the form of three transverse ridges at either end of the pin bar. There is also a small, moulded knop at the two front corners, at the ends of the arch of the loop. The pin is still present and is formed of a flat, tapering strip of copper alloy rolled around the pin bar. The pin seems to be of a different alloy to the buckle frame as the patina on the pin is a much lighter green that that of the buckle frame.
