A cast copper-alloy fragment from the mouth of a socketed Late Bronze Age axehead. The fragment is an irregular sub-triangular form. Based on the fragmentary survival the mouth would appear to be rectangular with rounded corners. The outer surface features a prominent transverse moulding (max. Th.: 5.4mm). Also visible on this surface is an obvious longitudinal ridge/seam. The metal has now corroded to a mid-dark green colour.
