Silver dress pin of flattened quadrangular section, tapering to a point at one end, and with an earscoop at the other, and with circular and longitudinal opening. Etched along its length with chevrons and initials AC, probably for the original owner. Bent and twisted, apparently despite attempts to straighten it. 17th Century. A common type: compare pin from the Ivinghoe Aston area, Bucks, reported through the Treasure Act, 2006T168, which also has owner's initials etched in. As such, due to its age and precious metal content, this object qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
This has been noted as an interesting find by the recorder.
