A Post Medieval lead alloy (pewter) lid (18th century). The lid is constructed from a disc of pewter with a further strip of pewter soldered on to the disc to form the wall. The front surface has a central punch mark and it is marked with even concentric circles, there are three radiating lines from the central punch that are rougher and more irregular. On the internal surface there are further rough and irregular lines form a spiral with an off-centre 'K' within a circle. There is some damage that has slightly distorted the shape and has punched through the top of the lid.
This is a lid from a container, possibly a stoneware vessel, an ointment pot or possibly a pounce pot.
