A post-medieval copper alloy dress fastener (16th-17th century). The fastener has an oval plate decorated with moulded curling patterns enclosed within two raised concentric ovals which form the borders. On one end there is a rectangular loop which forms the catch-piece for the corresponding hooked fastener. At the junction between the loop and the plate are two loops with a third at the opposite end which formed sewing loops for attachment to clothing. The reverse is plain. Dimensions: length 36.47mm; width 21.16mm; weight 4.67
