Fragment of a copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 5, flat wing ends type, Western Group), Mackreth 2011, 5.b4.Plate 50. The bow and wings survive, the foot and catchplate is missing. Corrosion makes it impossible to determine if the bow was decorated but each of the wings bears two, bold circumferential mouldings. The underside of the wings is hollowed to accomodate the coiled spring and one of the small perforated plates that secured the spring chord is present. There are also traces of the fitting on the end of the bow that secured the spring.
