An incomplete lead bag seal, dating to the 18th-19th century (length: 19.5mm; diameter: 14.5mm; thickness: 3.5mm; weight: 2.78g). The main body of this bag seal is circular in shape and flat in section with a flattened rectangular loop at the top, which was formed when the two parts of the seal were attached together when originally sealed around a piece of cloth. On one side, the seal is decorated by an outer circular beaded or marked border, which in turn surrounds a rampant lion standing on top of a crown with the letter ā€˜Iā€™ to the left. On the opposing side, there are the faint remains of another circular beaded or marked border. The artefact is in a slightly worn and fair condition. This crudely shaped conical weight has a sub circular base, which tapers to an uneven flat sub circular platform at the top. There is a central hole throughout the artefact (diameter of hole at base: 6mm; diameter of uneven hole at top: 5mm). There is no decoration on the artefact, which is in a slightly worn and fair condition.
