A complete stamped sheet copper alloy clog or shoe clasp of Late Post-Medieval or Modern date (c. AD 1790 - c. AD 1930). Length: 28.1mm; width: 16.9mm and 0.8mm thick. Weight: 2.56g. The main part of the clasp is sub-rectangular in plan and has parallel sides. This part has three evenly spaced sub-rectangular openings. At one end there is an integral 'anchor'-shaped hook and at the opposite end there is a small central projection forming a small hook. The front face has a border in light relief consisting of a formal 'Greek key' design terminating with a ‘shield’-shape at the hook end. A patina has not survived. For a variety of illustrated types and a description on how these clasps were used, see: Read 1995, 178-9, refs. 1207-1220.
